BBC Natural World: Satoyama

Watched BBC Natural World: Satoyama today. It's a short documentary on the wildlife in Lake Biwa in Japan. According to the documentary, satoyama is the word describing where the mountains meet arable land, which is why it is a unique environment.  Overall it was pretty interesting. I think it would be really cool to live there. One day maybe... ^^"

I found this one scene terrifying.

I think this setup with the village water channel connected to the inside of the house is pretty neat! I wonder if they have a mosquito problem..

I remember watching a video on youtube where these guys killed a whole colony of bees.

On a more recent note, my friend just returned from a trip to Japan.  Apparently he saw a "scary-ass bird" called a shoebill at the zoo there.

I don't know, it looks pretty funny to me..
