Dark Knight Rises
I just watched Dark Knight Rises today. I'm usually very picky about movies, but I think Dark Knight Rises was very good. It left more of an impact on me than Dark Knight did, probably because of the rising from defeat theme the whole movie had. However, I thought Joker made a better antagonist than Bane did. Overall, good movie, great way to finish a trilogy. Definitely worth checking out.
On a side note, Bane's voice sounded really familiar. Well his accent anyway, it kind of reminds me of megatron from beast wars. Cool

Epik High's 행복합니다 (I'm Happy)
Just wanted to write this down somewhere I'd be able to go back and find. I remember saving it on a word document long ago, but I've lost it since then.
Have I ever said how much I admire Epik High? For those who haven't heard of them, they're a Korean hip-hop band who've been around for a while. They are definitely worth checking out.
This song, 행복합니다 (I'm Happy), is a dark one. The rap bits are really, just a chant, and set the mood for the haunting vocals of Nell's Jong Wan.
Take a look, have a listen:
I came across this many years ago on a now long lost Soompi thread, the reason this is probably one of my favourite songs by Epik High. One part of the song really stands out:
Amazing huh? There isn't much more to say about the song, just that Epik High did a really good job with it. Well anyways, back to studying. ^^"

"Hidden" message in Epik's track "행복합니다"My friend told me today and I listened to it the way he told me to and it gave me chills. Epik is genius Tablo's part starting at around 2:25오늘부터 담배를 끊어야지(Should quit smoking today) 새로운 것을 배워야지 (Should learn something new today)이 회사에서 한 획을 그어야지 (Should leave a mark at work today)오늘도 숨죽여 살아야지 (Live hold my breath and live on today) Mithra's part starting at around 2:35오늘부터 긴 한숨을 쉬고(Let out a long sigh from today)차가운 물로 목을 적시고(Soak my throat with cold water)이 어린아이의 손목을 손에 쥐고(Hold this child's wrist)설마 제가 당신을 버릴까요(Could I possibly leave you?) Then at around 2:47 the two voices speak together and you'll see the way the lyric overlap to make some disturbing sentence like so (Tablo's italicized):오늘부터 긴 한숨을 끊어야지(Should cut my breath off today) 차가운 물로 목을 배워야지(Should cut my throat with the cold water)이 어린아이의 손목을 그어야지(Should cut this child's wrist) 설마 제가 당신을 죽여 버릴까요(Could I possibly kill you?)

Last Week's Update
I've been really busy lately so the past week's been condensed into this one post.
Ramen breakfast. There was nothing in the fridge that day.
Later in the afternoon, more ramen for lunch.
This was pretty cheap. Less than $6 for the drink, ramen and pork katsu!
Went to Ajisen Ramen on Saturday, I decided to try the curry. I couldn't wait to take a picture before digging in... ^^"
The bbq pork ramen
Black bean sauce on spare ribs and rice for dinner. It was a really big bowl.
Baked rice with pork chop in tomato sauce.. Once again I couldn't wait...
Night It Up took place this weekend. It's supposed to be a night market similar to the ones you would find in Asia. It was super packed and there were plenty of food stands selling skewered meat and stinky tofu.
I kept returning to this booth to get free ginger ale whenever I got thirsty ^^
Lining up for something... I didn't stick around to find out.
So many people! It's like I'm in China...
Dessert later. My friend got mango with tapioca
Mango & Pomelo with tapioca
I just got almond thick soup, even though it was so hot outside.

Shirokuma Café Episode 3
I don't really watch anime regularly. Well Shirokuma Café isn't a serious series so you don't really need to marathon it to enjoy it. The part that really stood out to me was when Polar Bear, to penguin's disbelief, showed interest in seeing the polar bear exhibit (polar bears eating fish, diving, etc). I just thought it was funny how humans do the same thing, and like watching other peoples' lives.
Panda entertaining the children
Intimidating!!
Anteater likes eating ramen?
*Anteater is in fact a Tamandua, a type of anteater, whatever.. ^^"

Ribfest and the Rest of the Weekend
Checked out ribfest this weekend. Ribfest goes on once a year in town, I'm not sure if they tour but basically a bunch of food trucks show up and they sell their ribs. Other food is sold too but the ribs are the main attraction. The rib trucks have all their trophies put out on a table in front of their trucks, apparently they win trophies each year for having good ribs or something.. or maybe they just put random trophies in front of their trucks.. I didn't really go read every single trophy so I can't be sure.
I couldn't wait to eat my beavertail before taking a picture ^^". To those who don't know it's a deep fried piece of dough covered in sugar, chocolate sauce or other toppings not an beaver's tail.
Tried this "Old fashioned soda", it came with the tin mug.
Tasted like normal root beer to me..
Took a picture of the land next to the marsh.
It's going to be developed in the next couple years so I just wanted to have a photo of what used to look like.
Lunch the next day. Can't remember what it was called ^^
Came back the next day to see some old friends.
Bought a pulled pork sandwich from the truck with the shortest line. It wasn't bad. Tried a sample from one of the longer lines at around closing time... It tasted a lot better...
A trip to the food court for lunch. Chicken and spring roll vermecilli from the vietnamese store. They used to serve this in a bowl, almost didn't recognize it

Fried Rice Version 1.0
Tried making fried rice today. It's still a work in progress, it's nothing like my mom's ^^"
Apparently fried rice is traditionally a home made dish which is convenient because you can use up any leftover food. I just chopped up some leftover chicken, celery and bacon. I decided to add some peas and eggs as well.
Rice is ready to roll
Heated up the pan at medium heat for 5-10 min
Tossed everything in and stirred it around a bit. Let it sit for around 5 min
After around 5 min I cleared a hole in the centre of the pan
Cracked two eggs into the middle of the pan
Stirred up the eggs and let them cook in the centre for a bit
Next I just stirred the egg into the rice, depending on how cooked you want the eggs to be you can let it cook longer in the rice. My eggs were pretty well done this time, but some people like the eggs to be a bit gooey when you eat it with rice.
Not bad ^^"
Could use some work though
