Gundam Age 47
Been busy since the school year started, but Gundam Age 47 finally arrived.
The Vagan and the EF have already begun the fight, and things don't seem to be going anywhere. Lots of grunt units keep exploding.
The last surviving desert brother reappears, hellbent on avenging his brothers. He pilots some sort of lovechild of the Biggro and Ball. I can't get over this design.. It doesn't even have a face, just a spike protruding from where its face should be. Plus the commander fin. lol
Crazy guy!
So it turns out this thing's special attack is turning the spike into a laser drill and firing laser drills at people. At first, things are going well for desert brother. The Earthers aren't standing a chance until sunglasses guy, Seric (I had no idea this was his name LOL), points out that desert brother doesn't really have a strategy other than firing laser drills at people.
Flit decides to fire the photon cannon at the Vagan to wipe out most of their forces. Not much to see here. Especially with how badly this scene was drawn... What's going on with Flit's face?!?
This guy isn't very convincing...
Zanald informs Zeheart that he does not want to follow his orders.
I don't understand how Zanald is so big.
Meanwhile, Seric manages to kill the Biggro-Ball thing, but not before having his suit critically damaged. He drifts onto a Vagan ship and is in the line of fire. Following a brief goodbye between Seric and the captain of the ship, Seric convinces the Diva to fire the photon cannon at him, allowing them to wipe out a large chunk of the Vagan forces.
This scene was quite bearable. Nothing to laugh about here.
Kio looks around and is attacked by his old friend from the Vagan ghetto, Deen, in a mobile suit.
Yes Kio that is correct...
The two of them talk for a while and decide they still want to be friends. Deen just wants to bury his sister on Earth. Kio is fine with that. However, Zanald pops up in his ridiculously obese mobile suit and kills Deen.
Kio goes beast mode after seeing Deen die, and activates Gundam Age FX's burst mode.
I find this particular screen hilarious.
Activating burst mode kind of looked like going super saiyan. Kio starts flying around like he's a gundam, not unlike what we've seen Kira and Setsuna do in SEED and 00.
Kio goes into rage mode and kills Zanald. Shortly afterward he realizes what he'd done.
End of episode...
It's nice to see Zeheart has somewhat of a Char cape. ^^"
I had mixed feelings about this episode. On one hand Seric's death was nice, there wasn't a big stupid fuss about it. At least they killed two bad guys. On the other hand, I thought the burst mode thing was a bit exaggerated.
Whatever. The biggro-ball made me laugh. It was kind of disappointing to see the desert brother come back and attack Kio instead of Asemu, or was it Flit... I can't really remember. A re-encounter would have been cool.

Gundam Age 46
Just a quick post about a show I'm currently following.
As a long time gundam fan, I felt devoted to watch the latest series, Gundam AGE.
As a long time gundam fan, I felt devoted to watch the latest series, Gundam AGE.
- Spoiler Alert -
Episode 46 came out today, and assuming AGE follows previous series' pattern of having only 50 episodes, AGE is nearing its conclusion.
This week, the episode opened with the various factions preparing for what I assume should be the first part of the final battle. A lot of time was spent showing all the characters are growing anxious preceding their upcoming battle. Kio gets a talk from a squad leader/officer/guy with sunglasses (I can't seem to remember his name) about how he will get killed if he keeps sparing the lives of his enemies by only dismembering their mobile suits while keeping the cockpits intact. Next, son of Madorna and Wootbit tell Kio they've finished Gundam Age FX's burst mode and tell him he should use it in battle.
We get a quick glimpse of Ezelcant talking to a sleeping Zera Gins (introduced last episode I think), saying Gins is his clone and although he is the successor to Ezelcant's DNA, Zeheart is the successor to Ezelcant's Soul... okay... The fat Vagan guy, Zanald (the eyepatch commander with the fat mobile suit) then appears on the computer and Ezelcant instructs him to become Zeheart's right hand man.
When the final battle arrives, the typical mobile suit explosion montage is shown. A grunt Clanche suit notices a Vagan ship behaving oddly, and flies in for a closer look. At that moment Flit realizes the Vagans have a dummy fleet and intend on using it as bait to fire their giant laser at the Earth fleet. Too late, a large fraction of the Earth forces are destroyed.
Meanwhile, Kio flies around in Gundam Age FX and continues to disable enemy units until Zeheart shows up in Gundam Legilis. They both go super saiyan, and by that I mean envelope their gundams in what appears to be a glowing sphere (actually they just yell and their bits/funnels start flying around them in circles really fast). Zeheart and Kio proceed to start flying around really fast and bouncing off of each other's bubbles until Fram shows up and starts firing her laser baton stick at AGE FX. The duel is now tipped towards Zeheart's favour and Wootbit urges Kio to activate burst mode over the com-link but Kio says he doesn't want to and needs to do this his own way.. Their duel is interrupted a second time by Zanald's forces who fire at both Kio and Zeheart.
My thoughts on this episode are mixed. I feel like there has been pretty much no focus on secondary characters, it's like they just introduce them and they either die the next episode or fade into obscurity. I'm still waiting to see how things turn out with Zera Gins. On the other hand, it was good to see that the other pilots in the show also thought Kio was being a Kira Yamato. However it is evident from the battle scenes that he does things a bit more realistically, taking down suits 1 by 1, rather than just randomly firing and destroying an entire fleet.
I haven't really enjoyed AGE as much as other Gundam shows. Then again it's supposed to be capturing a new generation of Gundam fans, aka kids. I should really be less critical...
Sorry if this post was confusing, I kind of wrote this on a whim, as it never occurred to me to write posts about AGE before, so there are a lot of new terms that readers who don't watch the show won't understand. I started off trying to write this post in a professional manner but halfway through things kind of got out of hand.
I'll be sure to have screenshots next week for episode 48.
